Welcome to the Art festival

2 Curators

After months of coordinating everything planned to occur at the Art Festival, I am proud to say that it was a resounding success. People from all over the city came to witness the talent that students of Santa Susana High School have to offer. Guests were amazed at the beauty displayed by the work of the students, and they even got to meet some of the students in person. Student volunteers ran each of the activities held at the festival, including the sketchbook gallery, community mural, chalk drawing, caricatures, refreshments, and drawing tables. All of the activities were free and available to participants of all ages.

Some of the art pieces were available for sale and all of the money goes right back to support the students who created the works. We only sold three pieces and made a total of $40, but the art teachesr did not care about the money. They were more proud that we had followed through with the event and showcased what the visual artists at Santa Susana have to offer. The jazz band played beautifully and kept the mood going throughout the whole evening. Their music brought pride to the Santa Susana High School Instrumental Music Department.

I designed a map of the event layout as well as a brief schedule of events that was made available to our guests. Copies of both are displayed below. The purpose of the map was to make it easier for guests to find out which activities were where. And the schedule mainly functioned to let people know when People's Choice Voting would close as well as when all of the winners of the festival would be announced.

The map, displayed to the left, details which activities are in each of the three rooms that we designated for the Art Festival. We felt the map to be necessary because some of the activities are located outside and we wanted people to be able to easily find each of them. I chose primary colors to indicate the various types of things found around the festival in order to further contribute to organization while sticking to the theme.

The schedule of events, displayed to the right, is a brief outline of the main things happening during the festival. We wanted people to know what would be happening throughout the hours of the festival and we wanted to give a shout-out to our primary contributors that made the event the best it could be.
